Department: Exploitation Bureaux Québec Position type : Salaried Specific accountabilities The incumbent is in charge of fire prevention at Place Ville Marie (3.4 million square feet) and provides advisory and technical support to all properties in the Quebec Office portfolio. For Bureaux Québec - Draft and regularly update operational procedures for fire prevention; - Develop a standard training plan on fire prevention and emergency measures for tenants, occupants and members of the building response teams; - Educate and advise executives, managers, department heads and security coordinators on enforcing and complying with fire prevention codes, standards and by-laws; - Create and regularly update reference documents on issues related to fire prevention; - Comment on and make recommendations about fire prevention standards (NBC, NFC, etc.) related to construction and renovation or the replacement and/or upgrade of fire protection systems; - Serve as a resource person for representatives and tenants of the Company's other properties; - Follow up on various matters and liaise with representatives of the Montreal fire department (SIM) and emergency measures committees (BOMA, RISM, etc.). For Place Ville Marie - Coordinate the implementation of the fire prevention and emergency measures training plan for tenants, occupants and members of the building response teams; - Plan, organize and execute evacuation drills and prepare a report following each drill; - Regularly update information on tenant emergency response teams and ensure ongoing training; - Issue an annual report on properties' fire alarms, training activities and evacuation drills; - Oversee the maintenance and inspection of the property's and/or tenants' firefighting equipment and ensure it meets the required standards; - Take part in the annual inspection of the property's firefighting systems; - Follow up with department heads on annual recommendations made by the insurance company; - Oversee the supply of the necessary fire prevention and emergency response materials and devices; - Ensure that high-risk activities comply with the requirements of insurers or the relevant authorities, including interruptions in firefighting system operations, hot work, construction work sites and indoor/outdoor events; - Assist fire safety and prevention personnel in their duties; - Oversee the management of chemical-management programs and fire safety audits; - Inspect construction sites as needed; - Carry out any other related tasks requested by the immediate supervisor or required as part of the job. Key requirements - College or university studies in fire prevention; - Five years of experience working in a large building; - Ability to deliver training; - Excellent spoken and written French and English; - Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; - Outgoing, energetic, well-organized and self-motivated; - Team player with a commitment to continuous quality improvement. Department : Place Ville Marie Position type: Salaried - Night (1 weekend out of 2) Specific accountabilities Reporting to the Coordinator, Security and Fire Prevention, the incumbent is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for people and property through effective security, fire prevention and management of staff. He or she also supports, trains, assesses and supervises security guards and dispatchers reporting to him or her. - Manage the schedules for security guards on staff; ensure absent guards are replaced and follow up on requests for extra guards with the corresponding provider; - Conduct job interviews for security guard candidates; - Accept, forward, distribute, transmit and keep a record of any request regarding security, fire prevention, electromechanics or maintenance that is made during normal operations or as part of a special project. Follow up as necessary with the departments involved; - Provide support to other departments and to construction projects; - Ensure compliance with established procedures, laws, regulations and by-laws (CSST, WHMIS, building code, smoking restrictions, etc.); - Take charge of decision-making in emergency situations and inform management as quickly as possible; - In the absence of the owner, act as the representative of the property in dealings with tenants, emergency services and other stakeholders, as required; - Prepare reports on events that have occurred in the complex and submit them to the relevant individuals; - Test and inventory designated systems and equipment, ensure everything is working correctly and request repairs or new equipment as needed from the proper departments and suppliers; - Carry out any other related tasks requested by the immediate supervisor or required as part of the job. Key requirements - Possess an Immediate superior issued by the Bureau of Private Security of Québec or meet all necessary requirements to obtaining it; - Must be able to obtain the appropriate clearance level from the Canadian Federal Government; - College-level studies (AEC) in industrial and commercial security or other equivalent or higher training; - 2 to 3 years of relevant supervisory experience in a similar setting; - Proven ability to work in a computerized environment; - Excellent spoken and written French and working knowledge of spoken English; - Leadership style based on coaching, teamwork, commitment and motivation; - Good knowledge of standards, regulations, equipment and security and fire prevention systems; - Nights and week-ends availability required.
